Andy’s Patch - Final Blog (of 2023)

Well Faithful Reader, this is my last blog for 2023 and I’m ready to hit the ground running in 2024. First and foremost, thank you for reading! It means a lot to me that you spend a slice of your day reading my takes on the real estate market (and sometimes the Nor Cal surf scene). Believe it or not, you aren’t alone when you are reading my blog, even though I like to write as though you are. Looking back at the statistics in the last six months I’ve had nearly 20,000 visits to my website! That just blows me away, and I’m very grateful.

My friend Ron Greene, a very talented photographer, told me long ago to build my own website. Ron has his own site, where he displays his work and gets lots of visitors. It took me years to get up the courage to customize my website and add a blog. As the country was descending into the COVID abyss, on 5/15/2020 I published the first blog on my site. I had plenty of experience writing and blogging on other sites like San Rafael Patch.com, but I lacked confidence that anyone would actually read a blog on my site. What the heck I thought, the country was pretty much shut down anyway so I might as well give it a shot.

You probably noticed that I have never enabled the comment section of my blogs. Since you are reading this, I assume you’d be supportive of my efforts, but the internet can be a nasty place. I never wanted to open myself up to people making disparaging comments about my writing. There it is, that lack of confidence thing in my writing again.

It’s hard to believe that in May of next year I’ll have been writing this blog for four years! I know it’s cliché but time goes so fast! My older daughter recently graduated from Northeastern University, and my younger daughter will be graduating from UC Davis in 2025. I am very sincere when I write that we could not have done it without you. Thank you for your support, your business, and your referrals!

Speaking of which, there’s a possibility my younger daughter will be joining me at Coldwell Banker after she graduates. I was joking with her the other day that if she does join me, I’ll need to change the name of my newsletter/blog from, ‘Andy’s Patch’ to ‘Beauty and the Beast’. It remains to be seen if she’ll actually do it, but I think she would be awesome. If that’s the case, then the best is truly yet to come in my real estate career.
