This afternoon in 90+ degree heat, with an AQI hovering between 170-180 in Terra Linda I met my junk guys www.NextDayCleanup.com out at 404 Nova Albion, put on my KN95 mask to filter out the smog and helped fill up a dump truck. I’ve got the house coming on the market later this month, and junk removal is one of many steps in the prep process. The house is currently pretty rough and despite the heirs flying out from Wisconsin to salvage and give away everything of value, Next Day filled up two dump trucks this past weekend and another today.
After the heirs left for home and before calling Next Day I put an add on www.Nextdoor.com and gave always everything else I could. I made appointments with about 10-12 people, most of whom were able to find things they could use. I like giving stuff away. It’s so much better than adding to landfill. Plus, most of the people who came by were very grateful for the opportunity. In addition to everything else I was able to donate seven walkers and two wheelchairs from Nova Albion.
I’ve got a great house on the market at 552 Montecillo Road in Terra Linda. It’s a big two story Kenney home with tremendous views and a bountiful garden of fruit. As the property was coming on the market I collected about 25 pounds of apples and brought them to the Marin Food Bank. I’ve had a few of the apples since I met the seller and they are delicious! Her grapes are out of this world too and taste like candy. I’m actively showing the house and I’m eager to find the new owner. They are going to love the land, the view and the space not to mention the great neighbors. I live just a few blocks away.
This week we looked at offers on 282 Oleander Drive in Terra Linda. We received multiple offers and my sellers and I are very pleased. When we signed the listing we discussed them leaving for a weekend so I could show the house. They went up to Sacramento and stayed Friday and Saturday nights, looking for their next home while I showed their current one. My stager Elizabeth Green from El Green Designs had come through and given the sellers some helpful pointers on preparing the house. They got the house ready, I got it on the market and everything feel into place. We were ONLY asking $989,000. That's a lot of money! Still, almost everything under $1.0 million is going fast in Terra Linda.
I’ve got a great townhouse coming on the market at 10 Professional Parkway #21 in Terra Linda. The photographer is coming Saturday and we should be on the market by Monday. We will be coming on at $479,000 which is a good price plus the townhouse has Mount Tam views. I’m excited about the listing, however I’m not expecting the same level of interest we had on Oleander where there were 15 showings the first weekend. The condo market is not that scorching kind of hot right now so my sellers shouldn’t need to leave town for the weekend. Putting your house on the market is always a good excuse to get away for a weekend though. And who doesn’t want to get away right now?
I am happy working. I feel like the first month of the pandemic, from mid-March to mid-April I took a big break. It wasn’t exactly a vacation of course, but I was able to take a step back and prepare for what has become a great year in real estate sales for me. This has given me much ambivalence about 2020. It’s been a horrific year on many levels, including with the fires burning since mid-August and the 205,000 dead from the pandemic. There are a lot bigger and more important things going on in the world right now than my real estate sales business.
So I try to keep things in perspective. I’m very grateful when people allow me to be of service. Selling real estate is my passion and my profession. Despite everything happening in the world right now I can’t think of a better place for me to be than selling real estate in Marin County. This is what I was meant to do with my life, and I try to appreciate each and every day and everyone around me. All the small things really add up, and in the end I’m able to help my clients with one of the most important transactions they’ll ever make. For their faith in me I am humbled and I will continue to try to do my best for all who chose to allow me to be of service.
